CSTO suffers from artificial anti-Azerbaijani policy – expert
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaNikolai Bordyuzha, Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), has recently provoked Armenia and Azerbaijan with his speech at a press conference.
Vestnik Kavkaza reported earlier about the secretary general promising Armenia any necessary help should the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict with Azerbaijan turn into an open clash.
Alexey Vlasov, Editor-in-Chief of Vestnik Kavkaza, said that the situation has been stirred up by the mass media of certain states. The CSTO has a charter with a clear description of the competence of the organization. Bordyuzha expressed his personal opinion on the situation. In this case, there are no grounds to believe that the CSTO has any anti-Azerbaijani policy. Any contrary views are artificial and aimed at destabilizing the situation in the South Caucasus, the expert notes.
According to the charter, the CSTO will aid Armenia by any necessary means in case of open aggression against it, the CSTO press service has recently said.
A spokesman for the organization clarified that the CSTO is not a side in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. The OSCE Minsk Group, co-chaired by Russia, is working on settling the conflict, the press service concluded.
