Russia, US, France concerned over Iranian uranium exchange deal
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaRussia, US and France have expressed worries in a message delivered to
IAEA on the trilateral uranium exchange deal between Iran, Brazil and
Turkey.
The Iranian, Brazilian, and Turkish foreign ministers agreed on May 17
that Iran will swap in Turkey most of its 3.5%-enriched uranium for
20%-enriched fuel for use in its Tehran scientific research reactor.
During the meeting with the IAEA head, Russian Premier Vladimir Putin
said that the control of the international community over the Iranian
nuclear program is necessary, but a recourse to force is unacceptable.
He also expressed the opinion that Iran should be interested itself in
the transparency of its nuclear program.
"Iranian authorities always stated that worries about the military
character of the nuclear program are meaningless and there is nothing
to be afraid of. If this is true the program should be as transparent
as it possible, to confirm that it has peaceful purposes", Putin said.
