Iran’s Kurdistan starts new gold mining

The Korve Shahrestan of the Kurdistan Province in Iran has started gold mining. Iranian minister for industry, mining and trade and Kazakh ambassador attended the ceremony, Iran News reports.

$500 million were invested by Iran and Kazakhstan to build the factory for gold melting. The facility covers 180 hectares. The gold deposit contains about 16.8 million tons of ore with about 1.024 grams of gold per ton. About 18.5 tons of gold are expected to be extracted from the local deposit.
