Armenia re-exports whiskey

Armenia exported 9.63 million liters of 80% alcohol drinks in 2011, including cognac, vodka, liquor, whiskey, excluding wine and beer. Exports were worth $132 million, www.kavkaz-news.info reports.

The State Income Committee of Armenia said that 96% of alcohol exports were cognac, 9.28 million liters. An average customs price per liter was about $13.2. About 257,100 liters of vodka were sold at an average price of $3.4. Whiskey was the most expensive drink. 19,200 liters of whiskey were sold at $138 per liter.

Armenia does not produce whiskey, although Dagestan and Azerbaijan, its neighbor states, are trying to start production.
