Syria refuses to allow UN deputy head to enter
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaSyria has not allowed UN Deputy Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs Valer Amos to enter the country. Russia and Western states said that the visit would contribute to resolution of the political crisis in Syria, RBC reports.
Amos expressed disappointment with such decision. He said that stockpiles of food, water supplies and medical aid are low in Syria.
An anonymous diplomatic source said that Syrian authorities do not want the UN to see the ruins in Homs and other cities.
Syrian forces assaulted Homs after an artillery strike. At least 100 people died. Troops are searching through the city for militants, weapons and explosives.
