Novruz Mamedov: Azerbaijan does not plan to abandon the mediation of OSCE Minsk Group
Read on the website Vestnik Kavkaza"I do not agree with the proposal to refuse the mediation of the Minsk Group. However, Azerbaijan is much concerned about the lack of concrete results of the co-chairs' activity on the conflict. In this regard, we always express our position. But the idea of replacing the co-chairs, which has emerged in Azerbaijan and other countries, is just a discussion," the Head of the Department of International Relations of the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan, Novruz Mamedov, said today, APA reports.
Recalling the adoption of the law on punishing denial of "Armenian genocide" by the French Senate and its subsequent rejection by the Constitutional Council of France, the Head of the Department said: "We should not take hasty steps as soon as something happens. In international relations there are different situations, while the position demonstrated by Azerbaijan shows that we are on the right track."
According to Mamedov, expressing his attitude towards the next visit of the OSCE Minsk Group to the region, the mediators must find other ways to make Armenia to take a constructive position: "The fact is that at the Kazan meeting Armenia once again demonstrated its lack of interest
in resolving the conflict. Armenia wishes to delay the process, so that the suggestions of the OSCE Minsk Group are no longer justified. I think that we will manage to learn in which direction the processes move after the expression of the co-chairs' positions on this issue at meetings with the President of Azerbaijan during their visits to the region.
