The Naftogaz company is planning to sign a short-term contract for the supply of gas purchased in Europe to Ukraine through Slovak pipelines with the German company RWE. This can happen in the near future, "Mirror of the Week" reports.

Ukraine is considering alternative ways of gas delivery in order to increase the number of suppliers. At the moment the only supplier is Russia. Such measures would reduce the price of imported gas on the Ukrainian market.

The agreement will become experimental and will be tested on small amounts of supplies. "Naftogaz" intends to import from Europe up to about 3 million cubic meters of gas per day. If the deal takes place it may have a decisive influence on Ukraine's position in negotiations with "Gazprom" in the future.
