Sochi Olympic construction to be based on ecological standards

Preparation for the Winter Olympic Games of Sochi in 2014 will improve ecology, Russian Deputy Minister for Natural Resources and Ecology Rinat Gizatulin said, RIA Novosti reports.

Over 10% of budget of Olimpstroy is spend on environmental protection. It constructs water treatment facilities, builds new communication based on less hazardous fuel. pollution is expected to reduce in 2012-2013.

Gizatulin said that there are fewer ecological violations in Sochi than some other major construction sites. Restoration of nature in the area started in 2011.
