On Thursday, South Ossetia condemned the report of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe on the legitimacy of the Abkhaz parliamentary polls and the upcoming presidential polls in South Ossetia, Res reports.

A message of the South Ossetian Foreign Ministry called the report “biased and non-impartial, reflecting the Georgian position”.

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe published the report in Strasbourg on March 12, describing the parliamentary elections of March 10 in Abkhazia and presidential elections in South Ossetia set for March 25 as illegal. The document states that the separatist regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia cannot hold elections, according to international law.

The South Ossetian Foreign Ministry said that “it has recently been getting harder and harder to distinguish the difference between European interests in South Ossetia and the interests of the Georgian authorities”.
