Obama expects progress in missile talks by 2013

US President Barack Obama said that Moscow and Washington may reach progress in talks on the European missile defenses by 2013, RIA Novosti reports.


Experts will study the technical aspects of the project for 9-10 months, Obama said at the nuclear security summit in Seoul. Control of arms and technical issues need consultations and trust. The president reminded about the START treaty of Moscow and Washington.


Obama said that the US will have presidential polls in a few months, while Russia has already had its elections this year.


Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said that Russia and the US have not reached a consensus on missile defenses.
