The Guardian published an article entitled 'Syria: a devious diplomacy'. The Syrian crisis has already become a regional disaster, the author of the article believes. The violence has spilled into Lebanon and might do so into Turkey, so the danger is obvious, the article reads. According to the authors, if the plan urged by Kofi Annan or something like it succeeds, it will only extend the conflict in a new form.

Hurriyet published an article by Mustafa Akyol devoted to the Syrian crisis. The article came right before the Friends of Syria meeting that will be held in Istanbul on Sunday. According to Akyol, the Turkish authorities are considering a military way out of the situation. "The Turkish official said this [Turkish military intervention in Syria]  would be possible only if the number of refugees in  Turkey reaches hundreds of thousands and then only for establishing a buffer zone on the Syrian border," the author says.

Another article published by Hurriyet is headlined 'Do you hear war drums?' The author of the article, Yusuf Kanli, underlines that the situation in Syria is outrageous and Turkey would have interfered if the US hadn't deterred it. Kanli criticizes the United States for its position on Syria, saying the country only acts in oil-rich regions such as Libya and lets Syrians suffer from the Assad regime.
