U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton discussed with King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia the coordination of missile defense (BMD) of the countries of the Arabian Peninsula, the agency Rosbalt reports. In a two-hour conversation the head of U.S. diplomacy and the monarch touched on the issue of joint actions of the states of the Persian Gulf to counter external threats.
The U.S. plans to sell missile technology elements to the United Arab Emirates, which are one of the most developed states of the Gulf.

The U.S. Secretary of State will today travel to Istanbul to attend the second meeting of "Friends of Syria." Clinton is staying in the Middle East on a two-day visit.

It should be noted that the discussions on missile defense in Saudi Arabia are held against the backdrop of recent statements by Iranian Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyariran about creating a new naval base at the entrance to the Persian Gulf, east of the strategically-important Hormuz Strait. As VK reported before, the Rear Admiral said that the base, established in the city of Jask, is a new line of defense in the region.
