Dozens of people were detained in a counter-terrorism operation held in Istanbul on Tuesday morning, Trend reports.

The detained citizens are suspected of disorder during celebrations of Nowruz in Turkish cities and terrorist attacks and support of terrorists of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party.

The Turkish conflict with the Kurdistan Workers' Party has been ongoing for over 25 years. The PKK demands independence. The conflict has resulted in deaths of over 45,000 people. The UN and the European Union recognize the PKK as a terrorist organization.

The PKK threatened to intensify attacks unless Turkey makes concessions in resolving the Kurdistan problem.
