Kazakhstan appoints new representative to CSTO

Kazakhstan, the chairing country of the CSTO, remains devoted to the main goals of the organization, Foreign Minister Yerzhan Kazykhanov said in Astana on Friday, Trend reports.
Kazakhstan announced its priorities in December 2012. They include strengthening the responsibility zone of the CSTO, enforcing the Collective Rapid Reaction Forces, protection of aerospace, information security and operative reaction to emergency situations.
The CSTO controls the situation in Syria, its tendencies, CSTO Secretary General Nikolai Bordyuzha said, KAZINFORM reports.
States support the plan of Kofi Annan to settle the conflict in Syria. CSTO members assist in maintaining contacts with Kofi Annan, the Arab League, Syrian authorities and share information. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has informed partners about the latest steps Russia made to cope with the Syrian problem, the secretary general reminds.
