A nuclear power plant in Bushehr will be launched at full efficiency (1000 MW) in early summer 2012, Executive Director Mahmoud Jafari told Mehr.

The power plant will produce 720-730 MW per hour, which is 75% of total output. When Russian specialists conclude work, they will pass control of the power plant to the Iranians.

The nuclear power plant was launched on September 12, operating at 40% of output.

Construction of the Bushehr nuclear power plant was started by German specialists in 1975, but was stopped in 1979 due to the Islamic Revolution.

Iran and Russia agreed to conclude the project in 1995. Launch of the facility was postponed occasionally due to technical and financial reasons.

Vestnik Kavkaza reported earlier that full launch of the facility was planned for March 20, 2012, but was postponed for unknown reasons.
