Georgian central election committee presents voting results
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaAccording to the final results presented by the Georgian Central
Election Committee, a member of the ruling 'United National Movement'
(UNM) party, Gigi Ugulava, became the new mayor of Tbilisi, receiving
55.2% of the vote, Trend reports.
The UNM received 52.5% votes in the sakrebulo (local self-governing
body), the 'Alliance for Georgia' received 17.9%,
'Christian-Democratic Movement' - 12.05%, 'National Council' - 8.2%,
'Industrialists' - 6.2%. The ruling party will have 39 out of 50
seats.
This is the first direct voting for the mayor of Tbilisi in Georgian
history. There were nine candidates for the position.
