Mehriban Aliyeva to present Baku 2020 at assembly of Olympic committees

Azerbaijan expects Russia to support it in hosting the 2020 Winter Olympic Games, abc.az reports.

Kyonul Nurullayeva, Executive Director of the Organization Committee hosting the games in Azerbaijan (Baku 2020), said that Russia assured Azerbaijan of approving it as a host for the games.

Azerbaijan supported Russia in bidding to host the games in 2014. The General Assembly of National Olympic Committees in Moscow on April 14 will help Baku win the bid.

Azerbaijan will be presented by Mehriban Aliyeva, President of the Heydar Aliyev Fund and first lady of the state. She will present Baku 2020.

The Azerbaijani delegation also includes Vice Premier Yagub Eyubov, Minister for Youth and Sports Azad Ragimov, Vice President of the National Olympic Committee Chingis Guseynzade and others.

The International Olympic Committee will form the final list of candidates to host the Olympic Games of 2020 in May. The capital city will be elected in 2013.
