Georgian may hold referendum on military operation in Afghanistan

The Central Electoral Commission of Georgia has received a request of the Labour Party to hold a referendum on Georgian part in the Afghan operation of NATO simultaneously with the parliamentary polls, Business Georgia reports.

The CEC will make its decision on May 4. The Labour Party will need 200,000 signatures, should the initiative be registered. The president will either approve the referendum of give reasons why he does not.
