Tbilisi to build church for Iver Icon of Holy Mother

Tbilisi will start construction of a church in the name of the Iver Icon of the Holy Mother on the Makhata Mountain on April 17, New Georgia reports.

The church was founded and blessed by the Catholicos Patriarch of Georgia, Archbishop of Mtskhet and Tbilisi, Metropolitan of Bichvinta and Tsum-Abkhazia Ilia II.

The monastery will have the International Children’s Home for orphans and educational and rehabilitational centers.

The Iver Icon of the Holy Mother was painted by monks from Mount Athos in 2010 for the monastery on Mount Mkhata.
