Georgia celebrates Day of the Mother Tongue

In Tbilisi, tens of thousands of people gathered on Rustaveli Avenue. They demanded that the government legalize the status of the Georgian language as the official one. Similar demonstrations were held in Batumi.
The protest achieved the desired result: the Georgian language retained its status as the official language.
