Six mediators have recognized Iran’s right for peaceful nuclear energy, as long as it meets international conditions, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said. The diplomat said that the results were satisfying, the talks were constructive and were concluded with certain agreements, ITAR-TASS reports.

Iran has the right for peaceful nuclear energy, if it fulfills international obligations.

Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi reported that Iran and six mediators reached mutual understanding of the nuclear program in Istanbul. Iran will continue its program regardless of pressure. Tehran is opposed to the nuclear non-proliferation treaty.

Salehi said that Iran does not want to continue negotiations with the US. Any talks with the latter are under authority of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei.

Baghdad will host the next round of talks on May 23. Recent progress is greater than what the sides reached one and a half years ago, Ryabkov says.

Alexey Pushnoy, head of the Russian parliamentary committee for international relations, said that Russia is taking active part in the process.

Yevgeny Buzhinsky, Vice President of the Center for Political Studies, emphasized that a military solution of the conflict is unacceptable.

The six mediators (Russia, China, US, France, UK and Germany) and the IAEA have been trying to persuade Iran to stop uranium enrichment since 2003, saying that the process threatens the nuclear non-proliferation regime.

The US and a set of other Western states accuse Iran of developing nuclear arms on the background of peaceful atom. Tehran denies all accusations and insists that the nuclear program is to fulfill demands for electricity. The UN Security Council has passed four resolutions against Iran.
