Experts: West has no reason for a strike on Iran
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaThe talks between Tehran and six international mediators on Iran's nuclear program, which took place in Istanbul last Saturday,
negated the threat of a strike on Iran by Israel, the General Director of the Center for Study of Modern Iran, Rajab Safarov said.
During a round-table discussion at RIA Novosti, Rajab Safarov said that the talks in Istanbul between the West and Iran "have not left even the slightest cause which would justify such an adventure as striking any of Iran's facilities."
The expert believes that there was a real risk of conflict between Israel and Iran before the meeting, despite the fact that it was disadvantageous for the US as well as Europe.
There will be no missile threat to Europe on the part of Iran by 2020, the head of the Public Council under the Ministry of Defence, Chief Editor of "National Defense" journal, Igor Korotchenko said.
The expert believes that "Iran is objectively capable of not only defending itself, but also creating conditions of unacceptable losses for the Israeli air force, if such a strike would be in fact organized."
In addition, Korotchenko said that the destruction of an Iranian nuclear facility is almost an unsolvable task for the western armies.
VK has previously reported on the talks between the six international mediators (Russia, Britain, Germany, China, USA and France) and Iran headed by EU High Representative for Common Foreign and Security Policy Catherine Ashton and the Secretary of the Supreme Council Iran's National Security Saeed Jalili, which took place in Istanbul on Saturday. At the conclusion of the talks both sides expressed satisfaction with the discussion, calling it constructive and useful.
Since 2003, the six international mediators, in cooperation with the IAEA, are seeking to suspend the uranium-enrichment program of Iran, which coud pose a threat to nuclear safety.
