Azerbaijan to increase gold extraction rate

Azerbaijan plans dramatic increase of gold extraction this year, ABC reports.

Azerbaijani Minister for Ecology and Natural Resources Guseingulu Bagirov said at a government session yesterday that the mines in Gedabey and Chovdar will produce a total of 7.5 tons of gold in 2012.

Azerbaijan has extracted 4.5 tons of gold in recent years. An enrichment facility will be established at the Chovdar deposit in the Dashkesansky District.

The Gyoygyolsky District opened the Tulallar deposit with about 80 tons of gold and 290 tons of silver deposits, the GoshgardagJanagchi deposit in the Dashkesansky District has 20 tons of gold reserves, the Shamkirsky District has 50 tons of platinum reserves.
