The leader of the opposition party "Our Georgia - Free Democracy"
Iraklii Alasania has left the "Alliance for Georgia" coalition,
Novosti Georgia reports.
"We are going to consolidate and strengthen the structure of our own
party," Alasania said.He said there are two issues on the agenda -
first, the change of electoral mood in Georgia, secondly, the
strengthening of the party itself.
Iraklii Alasania, the ex-ambassador to the UN, created the "Alliance
for Georgia" in February, 2009 to unite opposition forces in the
country. Later in July 2009 he created his own party "Our Georgia -
Free Democracy". Alasania was severely criticized after the
opposition lost the recent Tbilisi mayoral elections.
