SOCAR seeks to expand cooperation with BP and ExxonMobil

SOCAR is confident in the success of its joint projects with BP in the future, SOCAR head Rovnag Abdullayev said at the recent meeting with a delegation led by BP Executive Director Robert Dudley, Trend reports. 

Abdullayev has expressed satisfaction with the long-term effective partnership between SOCAR and BP.

"All oil and gas projects implemented in Azerbaijan together with BP were successful," Abdullayev said.

Dudley appreciated BP's activity in Azerbaijan.

He informed about the completion of the first phase of the development of the "Shah Deniz" offshore gas condensate field and the beginning of the second phase of implementation, aimed at ensuring Europe's energy security.

The second stage of the "Shah Deniz" development project is estimated at $25 billion. The routes across Turkey and into Europe will be chosen within this stage.

Dudley expressed his confidence in the successful implementation of the "Shah Deniz-2" project, as well as other oil and gas projects.

"Azerbaijan will contribute to solving the problem of providing many consumers from other interested countries with natural gas," he said.

SOCAR is also interested in expanding cooperation with ExxonMobil, it was announced at a meeting between Rovnag Abdullaev and an ExxonMobil delegation, led by project manager in the country Michael White.

White announced the completion of his term of office in Azerbaijan and introduced the new manager Alistair MacLeod.

The SOCAR president congratulated Macleod on his appointment, expressing confidence in close cooperation and strengthening relations with the company in the future.
