Suspected militant in Kabardino-Balkaria identified

The police have identified the man who organized a suicide blast at the Chegemsky District of Kabardino-Balkaria on Thursday night, RIA Novosti reports.

Vestnik Kavkaza reported earlier that the police tried to block two suspects on the street at the stadium in Chegem. One of them activated a bomb, the other one escaped. No police officers were injured.

The suicide bomber was identified as a 22-year old local from Nalchik, who was on the wanted list for serving in illegal armed formations. The police found an RGD-5 grenade and two clips with ten 9 mm bullets.

A criminal case was initiated for attack on police officers, illegal trafficking of weapons and explosives. It may result in a life sentence.
