Deepening of economic relations with Iran does not contradict the policy of Georgia towards the West, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Nino Kalandadze said at a regular Monday briefing, Georgia Online reports.

"Georgia is a sovereign state and it can decide for itself in which form and with whom to cooperate," Kalandadze said. She added that establishing economic relations with all the major countries in the region is in the interests of Georgia. She stressed that relations between Gerogia and Iran are completely open and transparent and that all Georgia's friends are informed about them.
