Georgia establishes diplomatic ties with Guyana

Georgia has started diplomatic and consulate relations with Guyana, a South American state, News Georgia reports.

The sides established relations at Georgian office of the UN in New York on April 23. The communiqué was signed by Georgian representative to the UN Alexander Lomaya and the representative of Guyana to the UN George Wilfred Talbot. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon was informed about the diplomatic ties in a letter.

Lomaya noted earlier that Georgia plans to establish ties with UN members.

The Co-operative Republic of Guyana is located in the north-eastern coast of South America. It is the only English-speaking state. It has a population of about 750,000 people. The capital is Georgetown.
