Abkhaz foreign minister meets EU delegation

The foreign minister of the semi-recognized republic of Abkhazia, Vyacheslav Chirikboy, met with the EU delegation headed by Ramon Raygada, representative of the EU embassy in Georgia,  RIA Novosti reports.

Mr. Raygada announced that the European Union was going to maintain relations with Abkhazia directly without UN mediation.

The Georgian breakaway republic of Abkhazia is recognized by Russia and some other countries. The UN and the EU do not recognize the republic's independence.
