Iran starts campaign for second round of parliamentary polls

Iran has stared an electoral campaign for the second round of parliamentary polls today, Trend reports.

About 130 candidates from 33 districts will run for parliament on May 4. Only 65 of them will be elected.

Iran held the first round of polls on March 2. 5 out of 30 candidates entered the parliament as representatives of Tehran. 25 out of over 50 will be elected in the second round.

The Iranian parliament has 290 seats. 33 MPs were not allowed to take part in elections by the Control Council of Iran. The Ministry of Interior Affairs said that 65% of the population voted during the first round.
