Elista mayor elections fail for fifth time

Another session of the Elista City Council has failed to gather enough officials to elect a mayor for the fifth time, RIA Novosti reports.

Mingiyan Yashayev and Sergey Chi-Jo-Odo are running for mayor. They were chosen out of 5 candidates. 13 out of 24 legislatures say that their selection process had violations. Another group of legislatures wants one of the two candidates to be elected.

Chairman of the City Council Erdni Shogjiyev said that they cannot gather a quorum for the fifth time. Only 7 out of 24 legislatives arrived, at least 13 are needed.

A member of the City Assembly Valery Skargin clarified that they are at a stalemate.
