Baku commemorates Israeli freedom fighters

Jewish communities in Baku have commemorated Israel, the Agency of Jewish News reports.

Milikh Yevdayev, CEO of Gorsk Jews in Baku, said that the new synagogue in Baku has been commemorating the Israeli heroes who revived Israel’s statehood 64 years ago. Israel sounds sirens in the morning and night during Yom Hazikaron to commemorate the heroes.

The Gilel youth organization gathered at the Jewish House in Baku. It commemorate First Israeli Minister David Ben-Gurion.

6,000 Jews died for independence of Israel, Director of Gilel office in Baku Boris Mushailov said. They died during wars and terrorist attacks in 1860.
