$600 million to be spent on Isfahan subway construction

Chairman of the Isfahan City Council Haj Rasulikha said that about $600 million will be spent on construction of the city subway, Iran News reports.

The first subway branch will be completed before summer 2013. Trains will start operating from Malek-Shekhra to the Bakhonar Subway Station in March 2013. Construction of line from Zinabiye to Khomeini-Shekhra will start this year.

The subway project to connect the northern and southern parts of Isfahan was developed in 2000 after the decision to build subways in the 5 largest cities of Iran. Construction started in 2001.

The Isfahan subway is constructed from the 21st station at 5 sections.
