Pyatigorsk mayor wants expansion of NCFD and shift of its capital

Pyatigorsk Mayor Lev Travnev who is on a visit for the Investments in the Man Forum in Koslovodsk said that shifting the capital of the North Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) from Pyatigorsk to Rostov-on-Don should resolve the problem of traffic jams, RIA Novosti reports.

Media and blogs have had active discussions of expansion of the NCFD by adding the Rostov Region, Krasnodar Territory and Adygeya to it. The Volgograd, Astrakhan Regions and Kalmykia, which are all part of the Southern Federal District, could join the Volga Federal District.
