Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has recently held a session of the Security Council to discuss migration. He emphasized that the society is actively discussing the problem. World experience shows that migration is becoming a more complicated and uncontrollable process.
The main goal is fulfillment of economic needs in labour by settling Russian compatriots for permanent residence, Medvedev adds. The Russian government and private companies need to encourage economic mobility.
The president demands more decisive measures to prevent illegal migration. Illegal migrants do not pay taxes and aid crime. Major problems occur with socio-cultural adaption of migrants. Special programs are needed for their integration.
Medvedev believes that CIS states need to develop joint measures with Russia to prevent illegal migration and optimize deportation mechanisms. He ordered the government to develop a plan for realization of the concept for migration policy until 2025 in 3 months, Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev said.
