More Russian tourists visit Georgia

2,822,363 people visited Georgia in 2011. 978,521 visitors were registered in the first four months of 2012, Georgia Online reports.

The number of visitors in the first 4 months of 2012 increased by 45%, compared with 2011. Most visitors arrived from Turkey, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Russia, Ukraine and Iran. The number of visitors from the European Union increases as well.

The number of tourists from Russia has grown by 80% since the visa regime was lifted. Georgia lifted the visa regime with Russia in late February 2012.
