Kazakhstan to set May 7 as Defender of the Fatherland Day

Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev has ordered the introduction of a bill on state holidays of Kazakhstan, setting May 7 as the Defender of the Fatherland Day, News Kazakhstan reports.

Kazakhstan will mark the 20th anniversary of Kazakh Armed Forces on May 7, 2012. Astana and Alma-Ata will have special fireworks organized.

The president has congratulated veterans, servicemen and civilians on the honorary day.
