In Georgia, construction of the railway station "Parto Tskali" for handling oil cargo has been completed . As 1news.az reports with reference to the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), on May 1 the station took the first batch of 30 carriages with diesel fuel. The station, which meets all modern requirements, is linked to the railway system of Georgia in four directions. The construction of this station reduces the route for delivering and receiving petroleum products at the oil terminal in Kulevi (owned by SOCAR). In turn, this reduces the discharge of petroleum products for 4 hours. With this terminal, capacity will increase by 30% and allow the terminal to saveup to $50 thousand a year.
Cargo was previously delivered to the station "Chaladidi", which is 20 km away from the terminal, while the station "Parto Tskali" is located at a distance of 1.5 km.
In 2008 the oil terminal in Kulevi signed a contract with "Georgian Railways", according to which the terminal at Kulevi took responsibility for the development, construction and reconstruction of some sections of the Georgian railway system.
The "Kulevi" terminal is located in the Khobi district of Georgia, near the village of Kulevi. The volume of the tank farm terminal is 320 thousand cubic meters, expandable up to 380 thousand cubic meters. For oil operations there are two berths for the loading of petroleum products in tankers of up to 100 thousand tons. Power fuel docks on the bay can handle 8-12 cubic meters per hour. The company serves Predportovaya railway station, which can simultaneously accommodate up to 180 tanker wagons in anticipation of discharge of cargo. At the railroad trestle 168 tanker wagons can be simultaneously unloaded.
The enterprise is a complex technological structure and has facilities for receiving, storing and loading crude oil and petroleum products in tankers, as well as utility, industrial, household and office buildings, to ensure the normal operation of the enterprise. The company has a high degree of automation and mechanization of production processes and an automatic process control system based on electronic monitoring. In May 2010, the terminal began transferal of crude oil.
