Volgograd will start making tankers, starting with 10 ships with a
dead-weight of 7000 tons built on contract with Palmali and the
Dockyard Factory of Volgograd, Trend reports, citing a message from
Palmali.

The factory started construction on June 17th. It will build an RTS22M
project tanker for the Palmali Group. The contract was signed on April
7th. The new series of ships are a continuation of the 005RST01
project, known as ‘Armada’, designed for Palmali at the dockyards of
SELAH and ASA in Tuzla (Turkey) in 2002-2006, and the modified version
of the RST22 tanker of Krasnoye Soromovo factory in Nizhniy Novgorod
in 2008-2009. The third series of ships are being built at the
dockyards of Beshikhtash in Yalova (Turkey), to be completed in
August.

Ten ‘Armada’ tankers and five ‘New Armada’ tankers will carry crude
oil, heating oil and diesel fuel in the Caspian, Black, Mediterranean
and North Seas, including routes to Europe and the Irish Sea in
winter. The new tankers have an increased 650 ton dead-weight and
increased capacity, while remaining capable of sailing along rivers.
