Iranian satellite to be launched on May 24

The Iranian satellite Fadjar is planned to be launched on May 24th. The head of the Organization of Air Space Technologies Development of Iran, Mehdi Farahi, told IRNA today, ITAR-TASS reported.

According to him, the spacecraft will be launched by a Safir 1-B rocket. Fajar Satellite surpasses its predecessors from the technological point of view; it will spend 18 months in space, Farahi said.

Iran has already launched three satellites. In February 2009 Omid was launched, in June 2011 – Rasad; and in February 2012 – Navid. These spacecrafts fulfilled their missions. According to Iranian sources, two more satellites are under development along with Fajar – Tolu and Mesbah.
