Russia concerned at potential Kosovo role in Syrian militants' training

The Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Russia stated that recently the mass media has published material about contacts between the Syrian opposition and the authorities of the so-called Republic of Kosovo, the official website of the Ministry said. The point is not only in “experience exchange” in organizing separatist movements aimed at bringing down the current regime, but also in the training of Syrian militants on the territory of Kosovo, the message says. Establishment of training centers in former bases of the Kosovo Liberation Army is possible.

“Such intentions can’t help but raise concern. They contradict the efforts of the special envoy of the UN and the LAS Kofi Annan, which are supported by the entire international community,” the message says. “We urge the international contingent in this region to take all necessary measures to cease these intentions.”
