Kabardino-Balkarian head calls for united response to challenge

The head of Kabardino-Balkaria Arsen Kanokov has taken personal control of the investigation into the murder of the head of the administration of Tyrnyauz, Jamal Gemuev, that occurred this morning. He called this crime a challenge to the whole of Kabardino-Balkarian society: "I consider this cruel crime a challenge to the whole of society and we must work together to respond to it. I am convinced that only united can we properly stand up to criminals and eliminate their attempts to destabilize the socio-political situation in the republic."

The incident occurred today at around 07:00 am Moscow time. A car with the body of the 37-year-old head of the administration of Tyrnyauz, Jamal Gemuev, was found full of gunshots.

The night before, in the Baksan region of Kabardino-Balkaria, unknown criminals opened fire on two cars. An ex-policeman and a woman were injured as a result of the attack.
