Ecologists suspected of bribery in Russia's Sochi

Yelena Sokolinskaya, head of the Directorate for Environmental Protection and Forestry of the Sochi administration, has been detained for receiving a bribe of 480,000 rubles, RIA Novosti reports.

The official demanded 1.48 million rubles for approval of architecture projects of yard territories. The contract was worth 5.7 million rubles.

A criminal case was reportedly initiated last week, with a bribery of 1.5 million rubles involved. According to investigators, a contract was signed between Sochi administration and company for urban planning on July 28, 2011. A bribery worth 20,000 rubles was demanded.
