Georgian Football Championship ends with row

The Georgian national football championship has ended with a row. The GFF board announced Rustavi FC Metallurg to be the winner, while the football club Zestafoni proclaimed itself winners of the championship, Georgia Online reports.

Both teams scored equal amount of points - 55. According to the statute of the GFF Executive Committee, in such a case the advantage goes to the team that had more victories during the championship. The Zestafoni club claims that it is following this provision, but is counting not only games in 2012 but also in 2011.

UEFA has acknowledged Metallurg and not Zestafoni as winners of the championship.
