Baku and Turkmenbasy to establish ferry traffic

Baku and Turkmenbasy are considering establishment of regular ferry traffic, Trend reports.

Ashkhabad has recently hosted a forum for development of ferry transport. An international conference on prospects of transport and transit in Middle Asia and the Caspian Region was held to contribute to the topic within the framework of the UN and realization of the Alma Ata program for sea access for non-coastal states.

The government of Turkmenistan, the International Road and Transport Union, UN institutions, OSCE, Transport Corridor Europe-Caucasus-Asia (TRACECA) have organized the conference. Officials arrived from 20 states and 15 international organizations for the conference.
