Turkey uncovers plot to kidnap commander of Syrian opposition

Turkey has exposed the plans to kidnap Riad al-Asaad, Commander of the Free Syrian Army fighting against al-Assad’s regime, Interfax reports.

Two Turks were cooperating with Syrian intelligence officers to kidnap al-Asaad. They were caught, but released by the court later.

Al-Asaad is a former colonel of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. He moved to Turkey and joined the opposition.
