US will not attack Syria without UN approval

The US will not get involved in any military operations against Syria without sanctions of the UN Security Council, US Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said on Thursday, Interfax reports.

US representative to the UN Susan Rice said that foreign intervention in Syria without approval of the UN Security Council is possible, unless diplomatic efforts convince Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to resign.
