Number of TANAP participants might increase

The number of participants in the project of transporting Azerbaijani
gas to Europe, TANAP might increase, as well as the capacity of the
pipeline, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Turkey Faig Bagirov said, Trend
reports. The TANAP project might include other countries such as
Ukraine which will be decided by Azerbaijan, Turkey and the Shah Deniz
consortium.

Bagirov noted that an intergovernmental agreement between Turkey and
Azerbaijan on the implementation of the TANAP project will be signed
in June this year.

The ambassador added that it is too early to say that "Nabucco" has failed.
Azerbaijan and Turkey signed a memorandum of understanding on the
establishment of a consortium that will build a pipeline to deliver
gas from the Shah Deniz field in Europe through Turkey. Currently
BOTAS has a 20% share in the project, while the share of SOCAR (State Oil
Company of Azerbaijan) is 80%.
