Azerbaijan to take part in UN Global Compact Leaders Summit

Chairman of Board of the Azerbaijani Insurance Company "Qarant" Vagif Hasanov will attend the UN Global Compact Leaders Summit, at Secretary General of the United Nations (UN) Ban Ki-moon's official invitation, to be held June 24-25 in New York, the company said.
The summit will be attended by leaders of almost a thousand civic associations, private enterprises and business structures operating in many countries around the world, dedicated to the transition to a more profitable and stable business environment, as well as issues that are of considerable importance for ensuring the safety of future generations and the planet in general.
In addition to discussing the priority sectors of the transition to a new period of stability, it is planned at the three-yearly summit to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the global agreement. In addition, issues related to the organization of the next summit will be discussed.
The purpose of the UN Global Compact Summit, founded in 2000, is to develop a strategy for large businesses, and organizations not involved in the business sphere, which will allow them to build their activities on universal principles and thus support the UN's intentions, in particular the Millennium agreement. Some 7,000 organizations from 135 countries have joined this initiative. The Qarant Company started its activity on November 27, 2007. The founder of the company has one of the largest holdings of the country - "ZQAN Holding", withauthorized capital of 4 million manat.
