Russian foreign minister proposes meeting of states for Syria

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov proposes a meeting of states influencing the Syrian opposition to support the peace plan of Kofi Annan, special envoy of the UN and LAS, RIA Novosti reports.

They include permanent members of the UN Security Council, Turkey, Iran, members of the Arab League, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the EU.

The meeting would differ from the agenda of the Friends of Syria Group with its stress on fulfilling Annan’s peace plan without double standards.
